Persian New Year at holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS)

Pilgrims from around the country have rushed to the city of Mashhad to spend the early days of the Persian New Year at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS).

As part of an old spiritual tradition, the staff members of the shrine beautify it with colorful lights and decorate it with fresh flowers for the arrival of the New Year.

Another part of the tradition is spending the moments of the spring equinox at his holy mausoleum. This year has not been an exception either; however, the population of the pilgrims has decreased due to the coronavirus pandemic.

People have made this spiritual pilgrimage considering and observing the protocols announced for preventing the spread of the pandemic.
